Acreage New Home Builder

If you’ve got an acreage forever home in mind on Brisbane’s northside, choose de Graaf Constructions as your new home builder!

Our small family-owned building and carpentry company based in Samford is passionate about bringing your dream home to life.

Being independently owned, we provide custom home builds and can work to your style and aesthetics – whether that’s big and bold, or pared back and subtle.

We’re proud to have constructed numerous acreage homes locally across Highvale, Dayboro and Clear Mountain, and we would love to hear about your vision for your acreage new build.

New Acreage Home Build Process

To carry out an acreage new home build we will need a full set of architectural plans, but don’t stress if you’re not at that point yet.

We are happy to recommend a designer, architect or draftsmen to create your acreage house plans.

The process for new home builds can vary significantly, depending on the project and site. Here is a snapshot of what to expect.

  • 1. Design & Council Approval

  • 2. Site Preparation, Slab & Framing

  • 3. Project Management of Trades & Build Completed

  • 4. Clean Up & Handover

Considerations for New Home Builds

Most of the new homes we build have an internal area of between 250 – 400 square metres.

However, as we’re independently owned, we have the flexibility to help create an entirely custom design for you.

The below points are important considerations for anyone building a new home in a semi-rural area.

Granny Flats and Secondary Dwellings
  • Style of home: What style of home would you like? E.g. Brick, cladding, low-set, modern, on-ground slab.
  • Is a Home Sewage Treatment Plant (HSTP) required: How will your wastewater be treated?
  • Power connection: How will power be supplied to your property?
  • Water supply: Will you be able to access town water? Or will your water be stored in tanks on your property?

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to build a new acreage home?

A new home build by de Graaf Constructions typically takes 3 – 4 months. If you don’t have plans which are already drawn up and approved by council, the process will take longer.

What’s the difference between an acreage build and other new homes?

In our experience acreage new home builds tend to be single storey or split level because you have ample land area to work with. They are often in more semi-rural locations so there are different environmental factors to consider including fire zones and habitat regulations.

Because space is not an issue, the scale of the build can be bigger than small suburban blocks. But it all depends on the access to the block and terrain. It’s common to have larger initial earthworks because of the terrain or footprint of the home. Every block is different!

Why choose an independent builder over project builder?

Generally, you end up paying the same price as a project build, however as an independent builder we tend to be more upfront with our costs. That’s because all of our client specifications and variations are factored in from the very beginning.
